Sassetti, Soldo di Jacopo di Azzo di Sassetto di Gentile

Description

Soldo di Jacopo Sassetti installed a monument for himself in the north loggia of the crypt at Santa Maria Novella along the left wall as one enters the crypt from the Chiostro Verde. It was situated between memorials honoring the Stagnesi and Valori Ciurianni families. His only survivor seems to be the Dominican friar Bartolo di Soldo who died on 5 June 1348. The sources are vague as to whether he was buried with his father, as seems likely, or in one of the friars' tombs.
