To the divine and blessed Ugo, kin of Otto III and Count and Marquis of Brandenburg and Tuscany and Commander of the State. He once founded this and six other monasteries. The dutiful monks of this place, concerning him well deserving, restored the tomb, worn with age, in the year of Salvation 1481. This monument does not follow the heir.

  • [a] The tomb of count Ugo was originally set against the north wall of the high altar chapel, which oriented his effigy's feet toward the east. The wall tomb now stands were the medieval high altar stood, against the seventeenth-century eastern wall.
