  • [a] This tomb is described as at the foot of the stairs found in the middle of the church, separating a lower church from the upper and perhaps corresponding to a since-removed tramezzo or choir screen.
  • [b] Francesco della Foresta, followed by Stefano Rosselli, believed that the tomb was used in the seventeenth century for the burial of Carmelite friars, perhaps because the tomb carried no inscription and may have shown a figure wearing a monastic habit.
