S. Maria a Latera

The parish of S. Maria a Latera was suppressed in 1516 and moved to the nearby oratory of S. Jacopo a Cavallina, which had been built by the Giugni family. The Giugni had also sponsored at least one altar in S. Maria, which was moved to S. Jacopo.

  • [a] According to Paola Ircani Menchini, the 1299 testament of Albizo d'Albizo da Latera, drawn up by ser Obizo da Pontremoli, included a bequest to the church of S. Maria di Latera, specifically eight lire for a chalice.
  • [b] Antonio di Domenico Giugni dedicated an altarpiece that carries the date 1419. The picture, attributed to Battista di Biagio Sanguigni, was transferred to the church of S. Jacopo a Cavallina after the suppression of S. Maria.
