Oratorio di Nostra Signora delle Grazie sul Ponte di Rubaconte

An oratory dedicated to the Virgin Mary was established on the eastern side of the first pier from the north that supported the Ponte Rubaconte that bridged the Arno between via dei Benci and Piazza de Mozzi. It was in use by the late fourteenth century under the patronage of the Alberti family, who lived just up the road to the north to protect and honor a miraculous image of the Virgin from the late 1200s. The little chapel was torn down on 7 February 1874 and replaced with a new building designed by Vittorio Bellini for the garden of the palazzo Alberti-Malenchini.
