[a] According to the diary of Paolo Sassetti, Filippa "was buried in our tomb in S. Maria Novella under the vault of the cloister, in the burial space belonging to Soldo di Jacopo Sassetti and his family. She was put in that tomb through the error of Fra Bernardo di Maso Manetti, a friar of S. Maria Novella. He thought that he was honoring us, but we were not pleased . . . May our Lord God receive her soul in peace, for she was a good woman and always brought honor to our house." The necrology of Santa Maria Novella tells us that Filippa was buried in the Dominican habit, indicating at some point prior to her death, even as late as her death bed, she professed as a Dominican tertiary.
