According to the Priorista Mariani, messer Agostino claimed descent from Giovanni di Francesco da Montelatico fornaciaio through his great-great-grandfather Domenico di Antonio di Miniato di Giovanni di Francesco. The brickmason Giovanni di Francesco da Montelatico was the only man in the family to hold the priorate in 1364 and 1368. Messer Agostino was granted permission to use the family name, claim this descent, and have Florentine citizenship in 1613 and 1614. He was also the last in his family line.
