Description

The sources indicate that an apothecary named Ristoro di Naldo had rights to a tomb in the north cemetery of Santa Croce that had been dedicated by Benincasa di Manetto, whose descendants came to use the surname della Camera. Whether Ristoro was a member of this family remains unclear.

[a] The sources do not make clear whether Ristoro di Naldo inherited or purchased rights to the tomb honoring Benincasa di Manetto. Benincasa's son Nastagio (d. ca. 1411) had his own tomb at the foot of a chapel he may have endowed in the parish church of Sant'Apollinare that he left to the Compagnia del Bigallo, suggesting he was last in the della Camera family line. It is thus quite likely that the apothecary Ristoro di Naldo was not a relative but had purchased rights to Benincasa's cemetery tomb, which for reasons unknown his son Nastagio had decided not to use.
