Notes

  • [a] The 1298 description of the crypt at Santa Croce within the 1439 sepoltuario records a tomb belonging to "Bartholi Delsi et ser Guidonis Bonromani." Stefano Rosselli mistook two oblique tittles from the line below Bartolo's entry (Borghoníní) for marks associated with Bartolo's entry, interpreting "delsi" as del si, believing the tittles below to indicate an emphasis on the letters above them. It is not clear how Bartolo and ser Guidone were connected, and "Delso" is such an unusual first name that it is easy to understand why later copyists were confused.
  • [b] It is assumed that Bartolo and ser Guidone di Buonromano da Borgo San Lorenzo are from the same family.
  • [c] While Bartolo certainly had patronage rights to the tomb, we do not know whether it carried an inscription. No coat of arms has been recorded.
