To God, the Best and Greatest. For Giuseppe Bianchini, a citizen of Florence, son of Matteo, grandson of Giovanni, renowned as a mathematician, most skilled in analyzing the oscillations of curves, both cycloidal and spiral, most diligent superintendent of the public clock, Gregorio and the Bianchini brothers, his most sorrowful sons, took care that this be placed for their most loving father, and for themselves and their descendants. He died on the Nones of January in the year of the Lord 1731, at the age of 80
