[a] According to the sepoltuario of 1596, a book dated 1441 recorded that no one held claim to the tomb and that it was given over to the house of messer Agnolo Acciaioli.
[b] The tomb was reserved for Lapino’s uncle and for Manetto’s children, of whom Lapino may have been the only one.
[c] Given that the Bentaccordi do not seem to have had any other tombs in Florence, it is quite possible that Lorenzo was buried in the tomb of his great uncle and cousins at Santa Croce. However, resident in the parish of Santa Maria Sopraporta in 1427, he may have opted for the parish common tomb or a common tomb at Santa Maria Novella. It does seem strange, however, that he would eschew a marked grave with the Franciscans, and so until further evidence is found, we presume he exercised his patronage rights and opted for burial there.
