Notes

  • [a] According to Chiti (p. 142), Nofri was the first to be buried in the tomb as recorded in the Necrologio Cirri. The date is confirmed by the Grascia Libri Morti (187, fol. 339r), indicating that Nofri was living in the parish of San Pier Scheraggio and buried in Santa Croce on 20 July 1400.
  • [b] We thank Francesco Bettarini for this reference.
  • [c] According to city burial records, an unnamed son of Nofri di Giovanni Arnolfi died in the parish of S. Stefano and was buried in the church of Santa Croce, only two months after his father's burial there.
  • [d] Giovanni is named as the sole owner in the 1439 sepoltuario. His name appears on the tomb slab along with that of his brother Michele.
