[a] Unlike Francesco della Foresta and Stefano Rosselli, Sermartelli identified this tomb as belonging to the Bencini family, who were consorts of the Baldesi. There is no evidence that Bartolomeo di Zanobi ever used a surname, but his grandfather's name was Baldese, from which his lineage derived their surname.
