[a] The Salviati chapel is not listed in the 1439 sepoltuario. According to the Opera di Santa Croce, it was founded in the later 1440s by Alamanno Salviati, whose son Jacopo left 300 florins to provide the chapel with tombs and a new window in his testament of 1458. Alamanno's son Averardo is credited with completing the chapel's decoration in 1478. See www.santacroceopera.it/en/places/basilica/salviati-chapel/
[b] Maria Maddalena Strozzi, wife of Lorenzo di Jacopo Salviati, descendant of Alamanno di M. Jacopo, hired Gherardo Silvani to refurbish the family chapel, which she re-dedicated to her husband's namesake and honored with a new altarpiece by Jacopo Ligozzi showing the Martyrdom of St. Lawrence.
[c] In his testament of 1458, Jacopo requested burial in the Salviati family chapel established by his father in Santa Croce.
[d] Given that Lorenzo's sons inherited the chapel, it is certain that he also had rights to it during his lifetime.
[e] Given that Alamanno's grandsons inherited the chapel, it is certain that he also had rights to it during his lifetime.
[f] The sepoltuario of 1596 notes Francesco and his brother as owners of the chapel.
[g] The sepoltuario of 1596 notes Lorenzo and his brother as owners of the chapel.
[h] Maria Maddalena Strozzi set out to renovate the Salviati chapel in 1611, hiring Gherardo Silvani and changing the dedication of the chapel to Saint Lawrence, namesake of her husband Lorenzo di Jacopo Salviati. See santacroceopera.it/en/places/basilica/salviati-chapel
