Notes

  • [a] A notation in the Carte Dei suggests that the tomb inscription carried the date 1400 (MCCCC). However, Doffo was only born in about 1407. His second marriage, to Cecca, occurred in 1450 and may have inspired the installation of a tomb. Cecca herself would endow an annual office of the dead in 1491.
  • [b] Given that Cecca endowed an annual mass for her soul at the Carmine, it is highly likely that she was buried in her husband's tomb.
