For Bartolomeo Cavalcanti of the Florentine homeland, who having been equipped with the best skills, with singular knowledge and the greatest advice and eloquence in the greatest things, zealously did splendid work for Pope Paul III, Henry II king of the Franks, and Ottavio Farnese duke of Parma and Piacenza, on various occasions of war and peace, and was adorned with remarkable honors by them, and in the end withdrawing to Padua while afflicted with illness and old age nevertheless he was sending monuments of genius through his letters, causing great grief to all the good men who were admiring his learning and generosity. He departed life. Giovanni Cavalcanti grieving, put this tomb for his most noble father. He lived 59 years, 10 months, 25 days. He died five days before the ides of December 1562.
