For Francesco Benvenuti, metropolitan and penitentiary canon of the church, who after caring for this house for fifteen years with remarkable devotion and the greatest love, chose this tomb for himself as a token of his exceptional affection. The nuns, with many tears, erected it for their most excellent father, a most upright man. He lived 73 years. He died in the year of our Lord 1605.

  • [b] Given that messer Francesco was appointed chaplain and confessor of the monastery in 1591, and that his tomb notes his fifteen years of service that ended at his death, the tomb was surely set up according to his testamentary wishes by the nuns, as the tomb states, fifteen years later, which would be in late 1605 or early 1606.
