  • [a] Described as to the right of the main door, this monument was likely a casket under an arch similar to those found at Santa Maria Novella and Santa Trinita, often erroneously called "avelli tombs," even though avello simply means "grave" or "burial." See for example how Boccaccio (Decameron VIII.9.81) refers to the Santa Maria Novella tombs as "avelli rilevati," or "raised graves."
  • [b] Rosselli noted that the wall tomb on the facade of S. Lucia sul Prato had no signs and that it was not known whose tomb it was, a fact that suggests the monument was quite old by Rosselli's day.
