Notes

  • [a] The sacristy chapel, originally under the patronage of the Guidalotti family, was first dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and St. Mary Magdalene, as it was described in the 1439 sepoltuario. By 1596 the dedication had changed to St. Francis and the Magdalene, likely in conjunction with the gifts of M. Jacopo di Francesco Rinuccini.
  • [b] Lapo di Rinuccio is credited as the chapel's founder thanks to a bequest from his testament drawn up in 1332. In the fifteenth century, Jacopo di M. Francesco Rinuccini was giving money for masses to be said on the feasts of Mary Magdalene and Francis of Assisi.
  • [c] The Rinuccini family acquired rights to the chapel from the Guidalotti family. Their decorative campaign was complete by 1371.
