  • [a] After a fire damaged the eastern end of the south cloister at Santa Croce in 1423, by 1429 Andrea di Guglielmino de'Pazzi had offered to pay for a new chapter room (capitolo), whose chancel would also serve as a family chapel. Construction did not begin, however, until about 1443, and Andrea died in late 1445 without seeing much progress on his project.
