  • [a] Rosselli described the altar as on the side of the church towards the street, that is, the church's left, or north, wall
  • [b] It is not clear that the image of the Madonna, which Rosselli says had a major cult (di gran devozione) was indeed a sculpture, but this seems the most likely given that he talks about the image as if it were the person of the Virgin Mary and not a painting of her.
