Notes

  • [a] A relief in the form of a six-sided shield shows an image of Saint George killing the dragon. It is accompanied by a stone plaque bearing an inscription that is similar to the inscription cited in the sources as decorating the confraternity's altarpiece. It is unclear whether the relief and inscription were part of their altar/tomb complex or were somewhere else in the building, like the crypt where they held their meetings.
  • [b] The altar is described as on the convent side of the church.
  • [c] The altarpiece is now property of the Uffizi but on display in the Museo Civico in Pescia.
  • [d] Three tomb covers for use of the confraternity were at the foot of their altar.
  • [e] The altarpiece is dated 1459, and Neri di Bicci mentions it in his ricordanza.
