[a] Ugolino Martelli was appointed Bishop of Lecce on March 18th, 1511 and Bishop of Narni on May 18th, 1517. He died while in office either in 1519 or, more likely, in 1523 when his successor Carlo Soderini was named to the post,
[b] Given that the tomb was under the altar and its dedicatory inscription, it likely was part of the commission by Bishop Ugolino Martelli, even though it carried neither arms nor text.
[c] Ugolino Martelli was appointed Bishop of Lecce in 1511, where he served until his appointment to the bishopric of Narni.
