Though he does not appear in the Galilei family tree published in 1907 in volume 19 of the collected works of Galileo Galilei, Fra Bartolomeo Galilei is credited with sponsoring the renovation of his parish church of San Simone in the 1630s. Other sources cite him as the maggiordomo of Cardinal Leopoldo de'Medici (r. 1667-75).
