  • [a] Francesco purchased patronage rights to the chapel of Sant'Antonio in 1557 (or 1558, according to Fineschi) on the condition that he not remove any coats of arms or monuments of the previous patrons, the Carboni. Writing in 1617, fra Niccolò Sermartelli noted that though Francesco had left instructions in his testament for his heirs to refurbish the chapel and install a marble epitaph bearing his name, but that this had not yet come to pass. The copyist did not provide any additional information, suggesting that it was never installed.
