Notes

  • [a] Piero was presumably one of the sons of Tieri who commissioned the family altar in Santa Maria Novella in 1298, and he professed as a friar in 1304.
  • [b] Death year cited in Lesnick's list of Dominican friars at Santa Maria Novella, which is based on the church necrology edited by Stefano Orlandi in 1955.
  • [c] According to Lesnick, following the Santa Maria Novella necrology, Piero professed in 1304 and died in 1346.
  • [d] According to a Castiglioni family book cited by Passerini, the Peter Martyr chapel was paid for in 1298 by messer Durante di Diotisalvi and the unnamed sons of his brother Tieri, of which Piero was one. He joined the friary six years later.
  • [e] According to family trees in the Carte Pucci, prior to joining Santa Maria Novella in 1304, Piero was married to Ermellina, with whom he had four children.
  • [f] According to Lesnick, when Piero professed as a Dominican, he gave his residence as the parish of Sant'Andrea.
  • [g] Piero remained in residence at the friary of Santa Maria Novella until his death in 1364.
  • [h] After 1304, Piero lived at the friary of Santa Maria Novella, having left his former home in Sant'Andrea.
