[a] The tomb had been built over at some point prior to the mid sixteenth century, for Stefano Rosselli does not mention it. It was rediscovered in 1722, as reported in the contemporaneous Priorista Mariani, during repaving of the church floor. The Priorista cites the most complete inscription, which also appears in eighteenth-century printed sources.
