The Libro dei defunti refers to this eight-year-old girl only as the "nipote di Bernardo di Giunta," making it difficult to identify her parentage. Bernardo di Giunta was born in 1446 and does not seem to have married or had children. Thus, "nipote" in this case would suggest a dead niece, but Bernardo di Giunta's siblings all lived and died too early to have had a daughter born around 1525. It is possible that she was the daughter of Caterina di Filippo di Giunta Giunti, sister of Bernardo, who married Bartolomeo di Sebastiano Tinghi da Pistoia in 1524, but this seems like a stretch given that women tended to use the burial sites of their husbands rather than their fathers. However, there are cases at the Badia were a husband chose to use the tomb of his wife's family, and especially since Tinghi was a foreigner, it is quite possible that he and his Giunti wife chose the Badia's grave to bury their young daughter.
