Notes

  • [a] Deo reported his age as 50 in his 1427 catasto declaration and again when he registered his birth with tratte officials. The family tree in the Carte Mariani Dei gives 1377 as his birth year.
  • [b] Deo was drawn for but not seated in the Mercanzia on March 20th, 1433.
  • [c] Deo di Vanni dedicated the altar and tomb for himself and his descendants, making it likely that his son and heir Deo was buried in it. Given that Deo listed his responsibilities for funding the chapel in his 1427 catasto declaration, the use of this tomb seems almost certain.
  • [d] The chapel is listed among Deo di Deo's expenses in his 1427 catasto declaration that stemmed from honoring his father's will in 1386. ASFi, Catasto, 79, fol. 195
  • [e] Deo's name was first placed in the election purse for San Giovanni Drago in 1391, and he was last drawn for office to represent the guild to the Mercanzia in late March 1433, but he was not seated at the time. His death date is not currently known.
