  • [a] For reasons yet to be explained, the 1596 sepoltuario, followed by Stefano Rosselli, illustrated this tomb with a blue shield carrying a silver chevron even though the surviving monument shows the traditional Bonaparte arms which were red, crossed by a bend framed by two stars.
  • [b] The marker is installed on the crypt's central pier.
  • [c] The presence of the tomb in the oldest portion of the Santa Croce sepoltuario suggests that it may have been installed in the late 13th century. The Catalogo generale dei Beni Culturali dates the marker to the 14th century.
