Notes

  • [a] The Doffi marker likely entered the Stibbert Collection in 1872 but may have been removed as early as 1844 after a damaging flood, after which the crypt was used as a storage area until it was renovated starting in 1934 to become a war memorial.
  • [b] The Priorista Mariani noted that the Doffi arms could be seen "under the vaults" (sotto le volte) of Santa Croce underneath the high altar, that is, in the center of the subterranean crypt.
