Notes

  • [a] The sources regarding this tomb are somewhat confusing, but it was first recorded in the 1439 sepoltuario as belonging to the brothers Benozzo and Francesco d'Andrea. Their children, first cousins Andrea di Benozzo and Benozzo di Francesco, are named as owners in subsequent sepoltuari, including that by Stefano Rosselli, who copying from the sepoltuari of 1441 and 1596 note the tomb's succession to the grandson and great-grandson of Francesco d'Andrea.
  • [b] The two brothers who seem to have installed the tomb in the crypt of Santa Croce were active between 1314 and 1336. It is possible, though not indicated in the sepoltuari, that their father Andrea d'Amadore was in fact the tomb's first patron.
