Badia 061 Giovanni Battista del Fontana 1538:

Notes

  • [a] The tomb was installed in the north wall of the church most likely in the fourteenth century. No Tedaldi or Romoli burials are recorded in the Badia's necrology that begins in 1499. The only Tedaldi burial noted was that of Maria d'Agnolo Doni, wife of Lionardo Tedaldi, who was buried in her father's tomb.
  • [b] While the lettering used for the inscription suggests an installation in the fourteenth century, the coats of arms with their foliated wreaths look more like fifteenth-century work. Identification of the Tedaldi man who had a Romoli Bellevanti bride would help to sort the monument's chronology. It does not seem to have been used for burial after 1499.
  • [c] According to the Badia's Libro dei defunti (fol. 87) the church floor was destroyed in 1663, and the old tombs were reinstalled in the small cloister.
