Notes

  • [a] Given that the tomb of his father and his uncle was reserved for their children, it is highly likely that Giovanni di Cante Ammannati was buried in it. Gravedigger records would confirm both his date of death and burial place if he died in a year from which records still survive. He died after 1381 but before mid 1390.
  • [b] Though the Ammannati left their ancestral neighborhood of San Jacopo tra le Fosse, they still may have used the tomb at Santa Croce for family burials. Gravedigger records could confirm Cante di Giovanni's date of death and burial place.
  • [c] A Battista di Giovanni Ammannati was heir to their cemetery tomb by 1439. He was likely Giovanni di Cante's son.
