  • [a] Given that his tomb carried no date, ser Jacopo was most likely its patron.
  • [b] The Libro dei Defunti names the Bottegari tomb as Giuliano's resting place but includes a note saying he was buried in the Fazi tomb. Presumably he inherited the tomb where his mother was buried in 1608, but why he would have been placed in the Fazzi tomb at the foot of the chancel stairs is presently unknown. If his testament survives, it may shed light on this odd circumstance.
