Notes

  • [a] According to Rosselli, writing between 1650 and 1657, the tomb of Dino di S. Cenni carried the first coat of arms used by the Dini family, a shield with an uprooted tree at the center, and an inscription. The later Priorista Mariani, compiled between 1685 and 1722, recorded that the tomb was without an inscription, suggesting it had been worn away. When it was finally lost is not known.
  • [b] Giovanni certainly would have inherited his father's tomb, and it is likely that he chose it for his own burial.
