  • [a] According to Rosselli, Dardano's arms were similar to the Bonsi with a red rather than blue shield. Rosselli left open the possibility that if it could be proven that the Bonsi sometimes used a red shield, then Dardano was in fact a Bonsi and his tomb was the one established in 1490 and renovated in 1583, not a separate, earlier memorial.
