Notes

  • [] "JACOPO del Sellaio" by Cristelle Baskins in www.treccani.it/biografico with bibliography.
  • [a] The Altar of St. Lawrence stood second against the left wall when facing the high altar, identified by Rosselli as the "banda della strada" (street side), which corresponded to liturgical north in the lost church of San Frediano. Rosselli said it was down some steps from the Altar of Sant'Andrea and the east end of the church.
  • [b] According to Baskins, in 1486 Lorenzo del Passera gave 100 florins to fund the chapel, a tomb, and an altarpiece. Rosselli cites his 1490 testament in which he left a bequest to the Confraternity of S. Friano (aka della Bruciata) that included funds for its completion.
  • [c] The Chapel of the Annunciation was to the left of the church's side door, which was to the left of the Chapel of St. Lawrence.
