Notes

  • [a] At some point prior to 1627, Leonardo Totti acquired rights to the Bellaci altar in the left aisle closest to the chancel. He put his family's arms on the new altar, now lost, but retained some of the Bellacci signs, one of which remains in the church today to the left of the pilaster of the Aldighieri-Gaddi chapel.
  • [b] Francesco Morosini "il Montepulciano" provided an altarpiece depicting San Leonardo, the new altar's titular saint. Though the picture was praised by Giuseppe Richa for "the beautiful disposition of many prisoners who, showing the saint their chains, beseech him," it is believed to be lost. It is not known when after 1754 the picture was removed, but likely during the renovations undertaken between 1817 and 1838.
