Notes

  • [a] Construction of the church continued through the first half of the fourteenth century with the vaults painted in the 1340s or so. The Bellacci family had rights to an altar in eastern half of the left aisle. Nothing is known of its decoration, but stone coats of arms high on the nave wall, as well as a stained glass window, attest to their patronage of the altar through the sixteenth century.
  • [b] A number of patrons, including the Bellacci, renovated their altars in San Remigio. At this time the original Gothic windows were replaced with round-arched, pietra-serena framed windows that carry coats of arms in the stained glass.
