Notes

  • [a] According to an inscription installed in 1570, Bonifazio di Donato Fazi dedicated an altar "in the middle" of San Remigio against the choir wall. This may mean that it was in the left aisle and oriented to the south along the choir enclosure that spanned from the NE pier to the chancel. Or, if the tramezzo continued across the left aisle, it could have been oriented to the east. It is not known what decoration it carried, but one assumes it had the Fazi family arms and the date of dedication, which was repeated in the plaque commemorating its loss and rebuilding in 1570.
  • [b] The Fazi chapel was lost as part of the Counter Reformation reforms to San Remigio that included destruction of the choir.
