  • [a] The ASFi copy of Stefano Rosselli inverts the colors of the shield and band. The autograph version describes a red shield with a blue band that carries three gold stars, and it belonged to the da Fivizzano or Fivizzani family as indicated in the fragmentary inscription transcribed by Rosselli.
  • [b] Though the inscription is incomplete, its reference to Fivizzano and Raphael strongly suggests that the Augustinian friar was the altar's patron.
