In June 1440, Vanni di Niccolò di ser Vanni designated 200 florins to be spent by the Compagnia dei Neri to construct a new chapel attached to their hospital in the via de'Malcontenti, built in 1428. The chapel retains its single-hall construction under a gabled roof, but has undergone significant alterations with restorations in 1912 and after the flood of 1966.
