Notes

  • [a] A group of Humiliati monks came to Tuscany from their native Lombardy in the early thirteenth century, first residing outside of the city at S. Donato in Polverosa (then known as S. Donato a Torri), and they had moved to Florence around 1250 where they took up residence at the parish church of S. Lucia sul Prato, as authorized by the bishop and notarized by S. Bencivenni da Rabbia Canina and S. Jacopo da Cerreto on 24 June 1251. From there they built a new monastery, dedicating it to All Saints (ogni santi), where they remained until 1554, exchanging places with the Observant Franciscans of S. Caterina lungo le mura, where they remained until the suppression of the order by Pope Pius V in 1571.
  • [b] The Umiliati fathers retained control at Ognissanti, but were replaced at Santa Lucia by the Scopetini.
