  • [a] The arms painted in the framing elements of the frescoes are the closest to those of the Bonizi family with six black balls on a silver shield.
  • [b] Stefano Rosselli, based on a 1580 sepoltuario, links the tomb with the frescoes above that carried arms resembling those of the Bonizi family.
  • [c] With distinct coats of arms, it is likely that these two groups have no familial relation and only a coincidence of surname. All of the tombs assigned to the "Bonizzi Antichi" by Stefano Rosselli carried no arms (or at least not by his day), making it difficult to know if any of them belonged to either of these groups.
