  • [a] A Ruspoli family tree in the Carte Mariani Dei indicates that Bartolomeo Ruspoli was born in 1496, and he or his father registered this year with Florentine election officials in 1518. He moved to Rome and married in 1529, raising his family there. His death date is not known, nor is the tomb marker set up by his sons Alessandro (b. 1539) and Orazio (b. 1542) clear on when he had died, only that he was dead in 1591 when the marker was installed. He would have been 93 years old in 1589 when his sons acquired rights to build a chapel in the remodeled church, but may have died earlier with his bones moved to the new tomb upon its completion between 1589 and 1591.
