Notes

  • [a] The sources report don Bartolomeo's death variously, though printed sources may include typographical errors. Stefano Rosselli transcribed del Caccia's year of death as 1635. Gregorio Farulli (p. 90) reports that he died on December 15th, 1635, but in his transcription of del Caccia's tomb inscription, which differs in several details from Rosselli's, he notes the death occurred on the Nones of December 1625, or December 5th. Given Rosselli's account, and Farulli's specification of a day according to the Julian calendar, it is most likely that del Caccia died on the 5th of December 1635. Giuseppe Richa (8, p. 166) reports the year of death as 1653, most likely a typographical error for 1653.
  • [b] Abbot del Caccia's friend and colleague Simone Guidotti installed a tomb marker praising the monk's adherence to his monastic vows in 1638. It does not seem to survive.
  • [c] Don Bartolomeo was likely buried in one of the monks' tombs in 1635, after which his friend don Simone installed a memorial marker with a laudatory inscription. Whether his remains were translated to rest under the new marker is impossible to say.
  • [d] While it is impossible to know which of the four monks' tombs would have been used for Abbot del Caccia, it seems likely that he was first buried in one of them, given that his personalized tomb was not realized until 1638.
