Notes

  • [a] Biagia and her son were living in a house in the via San Procolo when they filed their 1427 catasto declaration in the Ruote district (vol. 73, fol. 170v).
  • [b] The parish of San Procolo intersects with three civic gonfaloni. Given that related tax declarations are from the Ruote gonfalone, we assume he lived in this portion of the parish, though he may have been in the Chiavi section.
  • [c] Antonio was born in 1427 when his father declared his residence in this parish from the Ruote gonfalone.
  • [d] an inventory drawn up for his heirs is kept in Pupilli 4, fol. 167
  • [e] Carlo was baptized from the parish of San Procolo, presumably the Ruote district portion where his father paid his taxes.
  • [f] The ancestral home claimed by Francesco's grandfather and namesake in 1427, and his own father Antonio in 1480, was in the parish of San Procolo, which was subdivided by three gonfaloni: Ruote in the quarter of Santa Croce, and Vaio and Chiavi in San Giovanni. This property was filed with the Ruote district in 1427, suggesting that it was on the south side of the border between the two quarters.
  • [g] Francesco declared his home in this parish in his 1427 catasto, presumably the portion in the Ruote gonfalone since he was added to the sortition bags in 1433 from this district.
  • [h] Francesco baptized his sons Giachinotto, on 14 July 1522, and Carlo, on 4 December 1525, from the parish of S. Procolo, presumably the portion in the Ruote district, where he paid his taxes.
  • [i] Giovanni Bartolomeo was elected to the Ten from the Ruote district in 1534, and he most likely lived in the portion of the parish of San Procolo corresponding to it.
  • [j] Orlando's birth was registered from this district in 1528, suggesting that he lived in the portion of the parish of S. Procolo that was within the boundaries of the Ruote gonfalone. His baptismal record confirms his birth in the parish.
  • [k] Alfonso baptized his daughter Lucrezia from this parish in 1541, which was close to the Palazzo del Podestà where he worked. See Barker 2016, pp. 47-49.
  • [l] He appears in a notarized document with his wife Caterina Palarcioni in 1351 in this parish
