Notes

  • [] Stefano Rosselli included the toponym/surname "de Ghiaceto" and the date 1298 in his record of this tomb, elements that do not appear in other sepoltuari.
  • [a] The inscription can be dated to the original monument.
  • [b] The arms were installed at some point prior to 1657.
  • [c] Though the ASFi copy of the 1439 sepoltuario only lists ser Lapo's name with no toponym, the copies after it refer to page 34 in another book of that date which noted the transfer of patronage to Lapo's kinsman Guasparrone da Ghiaccetto.
  • [d] The Santa Croce crypt was transformed into a memorial to fallen Italian soldiers beginning in 1934.
  • [e] The tomb of ser Lapo di Bonamico da Ghiacceto stated it was for himself and his sons, of which Matteo was one.
  • [f] The tomb of ser Lapo di Bonamico da Ghiacceto stated it was for himself and his sons, of which ser Giovanni was one.
  • [g] The tomb of ser Lapo di Bonamico da Ghiacceto stated it was for himself and his sons, of which Matteo was one.
  • [h] Given that Francesco's great-grandson Guaspare was listed as the tomb's owner in the 1439 Santa Croce sepoltuario, he must also have had rights to it, and likely was buried there himself.
  • [i] Given that Lapo's grandson Guaspare was listed as the tomb's owner in the 1439 Santa Croce sepoltuario, he must also have had rights to it, and likely was buried there himself.
  • [j] Given that Francesco's son Guaspare was listed as the tomb's owner in the 1439 Santa Croce sepoltuario, he must also have had rights to it, and likely was buried there himself.
  • [k] The sepoltuario of 1596 notes that a book dated 1439 noted one Guasparrone da Ghiacceto as the crypt tomb's owner. However, this is not the 1439 sepoltuario now kept in the Archivio di Stato di Firenze (Man. 619), which only names ser Lapo di Bonamico and his sons. Guasparre di Francesco died on March 4, 1434, but in 1427 he had noted his obligation to pay the friars of Santa Croce 4 florins per year for his ancestor's perpetual pietanza, presumably given at his death some time after 1298.
