  • [a] Given the lack of date on the tomb marker, it is likely that Luca installed the memorial himself, possibly in time for the burial of his young son Antonio in June 1400. Luca himself would be buried there between 1409 and 1426, for his wife's status was widow in their son's 1427 catasto declaration. The Catalogo generale dates the tomb on stylistic grounds to the fourteenth century.
  • [b] Burial records confirm that Antonio di Luca di Salvuccio was a resident of San Jacopo parish and buried in Santa Croce. Whether the tomb was already present or inspired by his death is not known.
